Q. What are Sisterlocks™?
A. Sisterlocks™ is a natural hair management system
that allows women with tightly textured hair to
take advantage of a wide range of today's
hairstyles without having to alter the natural
texture of their hair.
Q. Can Men wear Sisterlocks™?
A. Yes! but, we would not call them Sisterlocks™. They
would be called 'Brotherlocks'™.
Q. What is the difference between
Dreadlocks, Traditional Locs,
and Sisterlocks™?
A. 'Dreadlocks' are associated with the Rastafarian people
they are traditionally left in its natural state by not doing
anything to them. 'Traditional' Locs are 'Cultivated'--
meaning palm rolled or twisted--groomed.
Sisterlocks™ are tiny stylable locks that are not
twisted and that are very versatile and manageable.
Q. Can children wear Sisterlocks™?
A. A resounding Yes! More and more parents are getting
Sisterlocks™ put in their children's hair because you
can put her hair in ponytails, curls and braids.
Besides it's less time consuming in the morning, getting ready
for school! Boys can get 'Brotherlocks'™
Q. Can I add extension hair to Sisterlocks™?
A. Because Sisterlocks™ is a trademark system
that uses YOUR OWN hair to create the locks,
your locks could not be called Sisterlocks™.
Q. Can I change hairstyles once I get
Sisterlocks™
A. Yes! Sisterlocks™ is a lot less limiting than
extension braids because it is your natural hair.
You can curl it, braid it, wear a ponytail,
cut it, spray or mousse it, wear bangs and parts
--You name it!
Q. I have very fragile hair, can I
wear Locs/Sisterlocks™?
A. Because of the process in creating Locs--palm rolling- Sisterlocks™ is much gentler on the
hair--Sisterlocks™ would be the recommended hair
style for fragile hair.
Q. Do I have to cut my perm off to start
Locs/Sisterlocks™?
A. If Locs is your chosen style, YES you would have to cut
off all the permed ends in order to create uniform locs.
If Sisterlocks™ is your chosen style, NO you
do not have to cut off the permed ends as long as you
have an inch and a half or two inches of NEW growth,
you can keep your perm and get Sisterlocks™.
Q. My hair is only 2 inches long, is it long
enough to get Sisterlocks™?
A. Yes! your hair would only need to be an
inch and a half to two inches long in order
to create Sisterlocks™.
Q. How long does it take to put
Sisterlocks™ in?
A. The initial locking process takes about
two thirds as long as getting extensions of
comparable size. For medium length
hair, this means about seven to ten hours
depending on the density of your hair and the size
of your head. The beauty of Sisterlocks™
is that tightening them as your hair
grows out is extremely simple, since there
are no extensions to remove or re-set.
Q. Will Sisterlocks™ cause my hair to
break or thin?
A. Just the opposite! Sisterlocks™ is a gentle
technique that requires no chemicals, no excessive
tightening, and causes no damaging abrasion to
the hair or scalp. You will find that with regular
care, your locks will grow and grow,
and your styling options will increase.
Q. I have very tight and kinky hair,
can I wear Sisterlocks™?
A. Yes! absolutely...your hair type is
perfect for Sisterlocks™. In fact, the coarse thick,
'nappy' hair is best for Sisterlocks™.
Your natural abundant texture adds body and
makes styling easier.
Q. Can I get Sisterlocks™ if
I have relaxed/perm hair?
A. Yes, though the transition will take more time,
there are techniques that can make the transition
easier. Your styling options will increase as your
natural texture grows out.
Q. My hair is a 'fine' texture, can I get
Locs/Sisterlocks™?
A. Yes to both hairstyles.
Q. What if I don't like the tiny size of the
Sisterlocks™, can I get them bigger?
A. Typically Sisterlocks™ have an average size
pattern that is put in the hair, if the locks are too big
the hair can not get around the 'special tool'
that is used to create Sisterlocks™...
If you prefer the larger size locs, it is recommended
that you get 'traditional' locs put in.
Q. Can I put grease, gel or beeswax on
my Sisterlocks™?
A. It is not recommended that those products be used on
your Sisterlocks™. There are specially formulated
products created just for Sisterlocks.™
Q. Can Sisterlocks™ be taken out?
A. Yes, though the procedure is very tedious. Once you
consider Sisterlocks™, you would look at it as being
permanent. Once you discover the range of freedom
you have with Sisterlocks™, you won't want to go
back! Finally there is a way of celebrating the
natural beauty of our hair with Sisterlocks™.
Q. I have Alopecia Areata, can I wear
Sisterlocks™?
A. It is recommended to check with your doctor first before
putting Sisterlocks™ in. Depending on the severity
of your case, Sisterlocks™ can actually help.
There is no stress on the hair or scalp and there
are various styling options you can wear to fill in
the 'blank' spots.
Q. Can I do the locks myself?
A. This is not advised. Not all hair types require the same
locking technique. To ensure that your locks are put in
properly and that you will experience lasting beauty
with your locks, it is highly recommended that you
get a trained professional Sisterlocks™ Consultant to
do the honors.
Q. Can't I just get my Sisterlocks™, or do I
need a Consultation?
A. Yes, you need a consultation before you get the

Q. How much does Sisterlocks™ cost?
A. All Sisterlocks™ Consultants are
'Independent Consultants'--so the investment varies
from person to person. Call or write
www.sisterlocks.com and find out what a fair
price should be. If you find that someone's price
is too expensive, the Sisterlocks™ home office can
probably recommend someone else that will meet
your needs.
